I am thrilled to have the chance to participate in the 44th Berlin Marathon alongside my teammate Carolyn. Discussion surrounding the Berlin Marathon began one night with a group of Impalas gushing about our teammates' latest marathon performances. We were in awe of their commitment, sacrifice, and grit demonstrated not just in those 26.2 miles but in the months and years of build up for these races. The marathon is almost a rite of passage as an Impala, yet Carolyn and I both felt some trepidation surrounding partaking in a/another marathon. The distance is daunting, the work load is immense with no guarantee of success, and finish line memories tainted the magic of the event. We set out to overcome these hurdles together. For me, Berlin will be an ultimate expression of team love. A goal that we felt unable to achieve on our own but which we are emboldened and inspired to tackle together.
As part of the Berlin Marathon's
Team World Vision, we have committed to raising 1600 Euros for people in Sierra Leone who don't have access to clean drinking water and sanitation. Running brings us joy and is a place for self and community. We would like to pay that joy forward to communities where happiness is impeded by poverty and harsh environments.
I would greatly appreciate if you could help me in my fundraising efforts by making a donation to World Vision Deutschland e.V. or bringing awareness around my fundraising efforts. There are no small donations.
Thank you for your love and support!
