Supporting PSE

by Stephanie Devignot for Pour un Sourire d'Enfant (PSE)

I financially support a French NGO called Pour Un Sourire d'Enfant PSE (“for a child's smile”), which helps children from poor and disadvantaged areas in Cambodia, to have access to education, job formation, healthcare, food.

In December 2022, I volunteered as a PSE monitor during the school break for the “Winter camp”, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I received a 1 week training with fellow volunteers, and then for 2 weeks I was assigned to the sub-group of Children With Disabilities (mental and/or physical disabilities). I helped their caretakers to feed and dress them, and I organised various activities for their development, learning, sociability or recreation. We also had activities outside the protected area of PSE buildings, where we had to deal with transportation (wheelchairs, bus, ...) and to the safety of the children.

That was a very challenging experience regarding volunteer work, and facing the disabilities of children. The love and happiness we shared was so honest and real: it was worth every difficulty, and these kids will stay forever in my heart.

If you would like to help, you can make a donation for PSE here and/or share my fundraising campaign.

Thanks a lot for your support!
Steph.
