The Dirty Divas got dirty and did it!! In fact The Dirty Divas ROCKED it!
Although there was a few nerves arriving in Levens for the Mud Day there was smiles all round and the sun was shining. 11am we were off. BOOM!
We ran, we walked, we crawled, we jumped, we climbed, we froze, we got muddy and we laughed. It was an AMAZING memorable day.
Thank you so much to family and friends who were there cheering us on - their support was fantastic and not forgetting family and friends who were not there on the day for all their messages of encouragement.
A huge thank you to our athletic and super enthusiastic photographer Cathy who was running through fields and over fences taking pictures of us - can't wait to see them and of course they will be posted for all to see.
A massive thanks to Gemma and her hubby for bringing along their camper van allowing us all to have a few celebratory drinks together after we had finished, a tasty BBQ and a hot shower (such a luxury - every other Mudday girl/guy had freezing cold hose pipes to wash the mud off with) it really was such a fantastic finale to the Mud Day.
Not only did the Divas have fun but we managed to raise 5580 euros towards Diabetes Research which is a huge amount. Thank you so much to everyone who donated.
And finally we will be re-opening the donations page for 48 hours ONLY (Tuesday 23rd until Wednesday 24th June 2015) following further requests to donate. So, for those who have not made a donation yet please donate NOW. This is your last chance..
http://www.alvarum.com/sophiesevierYou never quite realise how fortunate you are until the moment when someone close to you has a problem with their health. In our case it is our 5 year old Jude who was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 just over a year ago.
After the initial shock and devastation as a family we are learning to live with it and continue as normally as possible. Although I thank our lucky stars every day that Jude's illness is treatable and his life can continue almost as before the diagnosis it remains with us 24/7, 365 days of every year. The constant monitoring of his sugar, the constant questions about what he has eaten, how he is feeling, the lows and the highs. The constant reminder that your child's state of health is quite literally in your hands..
As a mother all you could ever wish for are healthy children. When a problem arises you deal with it the best way you can as a family but the pain and worry are constant. I would like to do my bit in helping raise money for diabetes research not just for us as a family but for all those other mothers and fathers who are in the same situation looking and hoping one day that they will find a way of making life easier for those children who suffer from diabetes.
Checkout our news feeds to see how myself, Sammi, Lesley and Gemma will be raising money for diabetes research. And I will be keeping you updated on our training, progress and our nerves!!
