After Ironman Lake Placid 2011 during which many of you supported my efforts (see below information on research your support helped fund, you can download my race report at: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/YKXUQsIA/Ironman_Lake_Placid_2011_race_report_07.pdf.html), I have decided to continue Margo's fight against cancer in competing in several Landmark endurance races including most recently the New York and the Boston Marathons.
This summer I had planned compete in 3 Ironman triathlon races over 2 months for a total of 565.5km (9.5km swimming, 450.5km biking, 105.5km running) as well as the thousands miles of training this requires. I will add 1 more race as Margo's Fighting Spirit lent me her wings and I managed to qualify for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship that takes place on October 13 in Hawaii for a total of 4 races in 3.5 months and 791.7km!
I will be “Running for Margo” in memory of my friends' daughter Margaux Blanc who passed away on Monday June 7th 2010. She was 14. Margo fought her cancer with remarkable courage. She never gave up. Until the end, she kept her cute smile and, unbelievably, remained more concerned about others than herself. Following the lead of her parents Patricia and Olivier, Running for Margo is a group of people spread all over the world that dedicate their racing and training efforts to never forget such a wonderful young girl and to share their accomplishments achieved in her Memory to help continue Margo's fight against cancer.
Margo had the courage but did not have the time, together and in time we will defeat cancer!

In 2011, funds collected by Running for Margo helped fund Dr J Grill to finalize analysis of sample tumors an to contribute to a breakthrough in treatment of gliomas (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22190243).

Je vais courir pour Margo, “Running for Margo”, en mémoire de la fille d'amis, Margaux Blanc, qui est décédée le lundi 7 Juin 2010. Elle avait 14 ans. Margaux a combattu son cancer avec un courage remarquable. Elle n'a jamais abandonné. Jusqu'à la fin, elle a gardé son mignon sourire et incroyablement, elle est restée plus préoccupée par les autres que par elle-même.
"Running for Margo" est un groupe de personnes réparties dans le monde entier qui s'est mobilisé autour des parents de Margaux, Patricia et Olivier, afin de ne jamais oublier cette merveilleuse jeune fille et de partager ses exploits sportifs accomplis en sa mémoire.
Margaux en avait le courage mais n'en a pas eu le temps, ensemble et dans la durée nous pouvons vaincre le cancer !

En 2011, les fonds collectés ont permis à J Grill de terminer ses analyses d'échantillons de tumeurs et ainsi de contribuer à la découverte d'une avancée majeure dans le traitement des Gliomes.

L'association Imagine for Margo - reconnue d'intérêt général - mobilise les acteurs clés de la santé et collecte des dons afin d'accélérer la recherche européenne contre le cancer des enfants. L'association mène également des actions pour sensibiliser à la cause, améliorer le bien-être des enfants malades et soutenir leurs familles. Depuis sa création en 2011, Imagine for Margo est devenue un acteur majeur de l’oncologie pédiatrique à l’échelle nationale et un acteur influent en Europe.
