Every year we ask you to support the important cause of funding research into children's cancer and we have been SO grateful for your support of this cause in the past. Sadly these very targeted research projects remain critical to the survival chances of children who are currently sick with cancer or others who will be sick in the future. There are not enough effective treatment options and this outrages us. As difficult as it is to ask you again, we are coming to ask for your support again. We became painfully aware of the urgent need for targeted research for children's cancer through the treatment (or lack thereof) and subsequent death of my niece (the girls' precious cousin), Juliette, in 2014. Juliette was 11 years old when she died of Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer, after an 18-month illness. We literally cannot accept that other families should go through this suffering in the future. Our support for this research offers a practical way forward. Our friends' son, Maleaume, was told there were no treatment options left for him to fight his cancer but the advancements made through clinical trials funded by Imagine for Margo mean that he is in remission, playing football, and contemplating what he will study at university. Adult cancer treatments cannot be used on children so research is essential to adapt and modify treatments so that they offer these young children a way out of the nightmare of such an illness. 100% of the money raised by Imagine for Margo goes into very targetted pan-European clinical trials that are offering viable treatment options to sick children. Children who deserve a better chance of survival. Cancer in children is the 1st cause of death by illness in Europe and the 2nd cause of death after accidents. 1 in 440 children will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 15. On 26th September, in 2 weeks, we will be running in the 'Enfants Sans Cancer' race, along with Juliette's friends and family, over 5km or 10km. There, a cheque of the funds raised will be handed to the researchers and oncology doctors who come to the race to participate and support it. Help us to hand over as much as possible so they have the funds to complete and accelerate their research. Merci pour votre soutien!
