Hi, I’m Kiwikiwi🥝🐦, a little plush bird from New Zealand that Dad brought home, and somehow I ended up becoming part of every family adventure. My mum is an introvert who is preparing for her first marathon — Paris Marathon 2027. She was never really a runner. Not long ago, she was still doing a mix of running and walking at around a 10 min/km pace, and even 1 km could feel tiring. So 42.195 km is a very big goal for her. We believe physical activity is one of the simplest and most important ways to prevent non-communicable diseases and stay healthy. But to run, walk, and stay active, we also need healthy lungs, a healthy heart, and air that is safe enough to breathe. We live in Chiang Mai, a city that faces PM2.5 air pollution almost every year. During some periods, poor air quality can make outdoor exercise difficult. My dad is also a physician and researcher working on respirators and protection from airborne exposures, which makes respiratory health and air quality especially close to our family. This run is more than just finishing 42.195 km. We are raising €420 for Fondation du Souffle, a French organisation supporting respiratory research, prevention, education and people living with respiratory disease. The organisation also works on air pollution, air quality and environmental factors affecting respiratory health. We’ll fund this mission little by little — through recycling, affiliate commissions, money saved from everyday spending, and some of our own money too. Some days it might be just a few baht. Some days it might be more. We’ll keep adding to it until we reach €420 — and hopefully the finish line in Paris too. Thank you for supporting better breathing. 🫁 — Kiwikiwi
