Mad or what!! Here I am, 70 next birthday (now where did those years go!), not fit, not a good shape (or size!) and certainly not a cyclist and what do I decide to do?? Take up a cycle challenge called "Activity for Life" to try to raise some money for Cancer Support France (CSF) which provides much-needed help for English speakers here in France touched by this terrible disease. A challenge this will certainly be for me as it's over 4 days the first weekend in September and will cover some 160+km - and not all on the flat! I've managed to build up distance and terrain from a mere 6km to around 28km (still not enough I know) - and have the aches to prove it - not forgetting the sore backside, politely called 'the seat bones' I believe! Even though my training has been somewhat intermittent and I'm not achieving the distances that I'll need to cover during the event, I'm really enjoying testing myself - mind you, some sunshine and beautiful scenery have helped. That said, I'm sure that once I'm out there with all the others, and with the knowledge of this being such a good cause to support, I'll make it to the end. After all, I've done two "Sober Octobers" for MacMillan so I'm used to a challenge!! Mind you, my coffee mornings in support of "La Ligue Contre le Cancer" and "Octobre Rose" were somewhat easier - all that cake to enjoy!! I do hope you will feel able to support me by making a donation - and keep your fingers crossed for some fine weather for us. Thank you so much Maggie
