"running for her cause"

Laura Jouan — Gustave Roussy

November 2022, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. For the last four years, she’s been running against the illness. She’s no athlete, and yet her strength and courage are unparalleled. Cancer (or any illness) feels like a marathon — a competition where you don’t know how many kilometres you’ll have to run. On this journey, your body, your mind, and the people you love will be put to the test. I can only hold her hand and follow her lead. Refusing to break, welcoming a new day and looking forward. I want to challenge myself by turning a negative into something positive because that’s how my mother sees life. By running the half-marathon of Paris, I want to: (1) celebrate her spirit and the incredible woman that she is, (2) support all the people affected by cancer, and (3) thank all the people actively working against cancer.
