I’m taking on the Paris Marathon 2027 in memory of my beautiful Nana, who lived with dementia. Dementia has affected more than one generation of my family, and seeing what it can take away from someone — and from the people who love them — is heartbreaking. My Nana eventually went into a care home, and because of Covid restrictions, I never got the chance to say goodbye to her properly. That is something I will always carry with me. So if I get to stand on that start line in Paris, every mile will be for her. I originally set myself a fundraising target of €600, but I would absolutely love to go beyond it. Every donation, however small, will support Fondation pour la Recherche sur Alzheimer and help fund research into a disease that affects so many families. Running a marathon will be the biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on — but having a reason bigger than myself to keep putting one foot in front of the other will make every mile worth it. This one is for you, Nana. 💕
